What Is A Community Bank?

A community bank is any state or federally chartered bank with its charter located in the State of Nebraska. Community bank’s focus attention on the needs of local families, businesses, and farmers. They channel most of their loans to the neighborhoods where their depositors live and work. Many community banks are willing to consider character, family history and discretionary spending in making loans. Community banks offer nimble decision-making on business loans, because decisions are made locally.

The Nebraska Independent Community Bankers (NICB) is the only trade association for privately held financial institutions in the State of Nebraska dedicated to the principles of community banking. The NICB’s mission is to provide members the means to remain viable, progressive financial institutions with their franchise value enhanced.
