Nebraska Independent Community Bankers
The Nebraska Independent Community Bankers (NICB), an association, is committed to maintaining a strong representation for independent banks and the communities they serve. Financial institutions who are represented by a charter located in Nebraska; establish and operate within Nebraska a majority of their branches within the state of Nebraska; and make their primary customers and strategic decisions for the best interst of the communities in which they reside. In today's changing industry, NICB is working on behalf of their community bank members to protect their interests.
Nebraska's weather has shown the extremes from a mid March blizzard in the West to devastating flooding in the east, wreaking havoc for our community banking areas, farmers and ranchers. The Salvation Army is also collection donations to go toward flood relief efforts. Crews are working in the shelters in Norfolk, Nebraska and Sioux City, Iowa, organizing supplies in Fort Dodge, Iowa and organizing volunteers and supply transport in Omaha.
The Grand Island Community Foundation has established a Disaster Relief Fund for Central Nebraska. Funds will be available for the local area to assist with relief related to the disastrous flooding seen in the Central Nebraska area. Those wishing to contribute to the fund can do that at www.gicf.org. GICF will be in contact with local communities to distribute the funds.
